3 Days in Kuala Lumpur: The Perfect Itinerary & The Best Things to Do
Read below for a 3 Days in Kuala Lumpur: The Perfect Itinerary & The Best Things to Do. For where to stay, what to do on a long weekend day by day. With some specified day trips to do in Kuala Lumpur (non sponsored tours!).

Where to stay in Kuala Lumpar
Below are two options for hotels to stay at that I visited when in Kuala Lumpur. Giving you a luxury and more budget option.
W Hotel- This hotel is stunning but more on the expensive side at around £130 a night. A quirky hotel, this has several restaurants and a beautiful pool. There are two restaurants to choose from and the hotel is very central.

Hotel Stripes- A Marriott nonetheless, this hotel is great if you are on a bit more of a budget. Under £60 a night and incredibly central, you aren’t for from the Petronas Towers here. This has an infinity pool and bar on the top level.

FRIDAY
You perhaps will be arriving on this day. If this is the case, you probably would prefer a relaxing day without time sensitive activities.
EXPLORE THE CITY CENTRE: Merdeka Square / Masjid Jamek
Spend a few hours exploring the merdeka square which translated to independence square. There is so much culture in Kuala Lumpur, this is evident from the temples to mosques. Here you can see the icredible Jamek Mosque.

I heart KL SIGN
The famous I heart KL sign you can get a picture at. Centrally located, we stopped off here next to the City gallery. For some pictures. We came when there was a storm so waited under shelter for a while but managed to tick off some tourist spots!

KL Forest Eco park
Visit the Forest Eco Park for views of KL’s skyline! It’s only a short walk from Merdeka Square (15 minutes). Cost £7.

What to do for dinner in Kuala Lumpur
Wondering where to go for dinner with incredible views and delicious food in Kuala Lumpur on your first night?
Thirty8 by Grand Hyatt KL
More on the pricey end, on the top floor in the Hyatt hotel with views of KL. The food was absolutely delicious but what was more interesting to note was the incredible desserts. From a chocolate dome with a brownie inside you had to crack open with a wooden hammer to a frozen dessert with smoke exerting from it that you poured warm salted Carmel onto.
A thing to note is we found the portions quite big here, so hold off on ordering too much.

Drinks / clubbing
If you are wondering where is on the list for the best bars with a view, you’ll want to try this spot out.
Marini’s on 57
Marini’s On 57’s is an Italian restaurant but its also the highest rooftop bar in KL on the 57th floor of Petronas Tower 3. This rooftop bar has breathtaking views of KL.

SATURDAY
While in KL you should consider activities such as day trips to do in Kuala Lumpur. For a less time pressured day like Saturday book a tour to see more of the city centre of KL. Then venture further outside of the centre for some more interesting tours…
Petronas Twin Towers
Take a tour of the personas twin towers on the 86th floor for panoramic views of the city from floor-to-ceiling windows. Make sure to get the skip the line ticket as you can be stood waiting for a long time. A tour I booked was this one, it was really good! They WhatsApp you and ask your hotel to drop your tickets off before the day of your tour. Cost: £28

What to do for dinner and an activity
For something a little more interesting then just a dinner and away to explore more of what KL has to offer.
Fireflies Tour
Private fireflies tour and seafood dinner– We were keen to do this experience but the duration time was around 6 hours as it is further out the city. In this tour, you get to enjoy views of a historic fort and a fishing village. Also stopping off for seafood dinner at a fishing village. Finally you board a river boat as the stars and fireflies come out. However we were told that you may not always get to see the fireflies. Making it perhaps not worth the £80. Cost £80.

SUNDAY
Go on an all day tour on Sunday. These tours the drivers will pick you up from your hotel.
BATU CAVES
Batu Caves- Visit the Batu Caves. You have probably seen the colourful steps all over instagram! You can do this separately or visit this as part of the highlands getting tour below. Tip- Wear a long skirt or bring a sarong/scarf, as you are required to hide certain areas of you to climb the steps and enter the temple. If not, they do have sarong’s/scarfs you can buy there. Cost: £11

HIGHLANDS GENTING TOUR
Highlands Genting Tour– Another day trip to do in Kuala Lumpur. What I found amazing in Kuala Lumpur and Asia in general to be honest is they use WhatsApp frequently. We booked a day trip to take us to the Batu Caves and then to the highlands for a trip up in the ski lift. This was a private tour, I booked through Expedia and received the next day a personal message from the WhatsApp driver who altered the start time and end time dependant on what we wanted and came to pick us up from the hotel. The trip was somewhat long but interesting. All there was in the highlands was a temple and mall, which was interesting but we cut the journey short to go back to Kuala Lumpur and explore more there. Cost: £31
