4-Day Itinerary & Ultimate Marrakech Travel Guide 2024: Best Things to Do, Where to Stay, What to Wear, and Top Attractions in Morocco

August 19, 2024

Hey, lovelies! Planning a trip to Marrakech? Let me take you through my fabulous four-day itinerary and other tips on when to visit. I recently spent some time in this city. So read on for the 4-Day Itinerary and Ultimate Marrakech Travel Guide 2024: Best Things to Do, Where to Stay, What to Wear, and Top Attractions in Morocco.

Day 1: Cultural Exploration

places to go in morocco
  • Morning: Start your day with a visit to the YSL Museum and Jardin Majorelle. These places are absolute gems and I really enjoyed it. They capture that Marrakech Morocco aesthetic we all adore. The YSL Museum and Jardin Majorelle are just a 5-minute walk from each other, making it super easy to explore both.

  • Lunch: After soaking up the beauty, head to Le Jardin for a peaceful lunch. It’s about a 10-minute drive from the gardens, perfect for a midday break. Using the InDrive app, which apparently they do not like people using over there but this was so much cheaper.

  • Afternoon: For shopping! The Medina and the bustling Marrakech market are about a 10-minute walk from Le Jardin. I did find the market quite hectic, and you’ll be stopped a lot here, remember to dress modestly to avoid unwanted attention.

Dinner: Wrap up your day with dinner at Le Comptoir Darna, which is around a 15-minute drive from the Medina. This spot is perfect for those wanting to experience Marrakech Morocco nightlife with some delicious food and a show. Make sure to book in advance to get a reservation.

Day 2: Adventure and Relaxation

things to see in marrakech quad biking

Morning: Ready for some adventure? Kick off your day with a 2-Hour Quad Bike Excursion. The quad biking location is about a 30-minute drive from the city center. But if you book a tour like we did, they will pick you up from your hotel.

Lunch: For lunch, La Trattoria is a fab choice, located about 20 minutes from the quad biking site. Such a pretty location and the pasta was delicious.

Afternoon: Treat yourself to some spa time or hit up some local boutiques. Hammams are scattered throughout the city, and you’ll typically find one within a 10-15 minute drive from wherever you are.

Early Evening: Head to the Rooftop Restaurant Dar Dar for dinner, about a 10-minute drive from most central hammams. We sadly booked too late and didn’t manage to get a sunset booking. So make sure you book for then so you can watch the sunset over Marrakech.

Day 3: Desert and Riad Experience

Morning: Visit to a local hammam. These traditional steam baths are so relaxing and usually just a short 10-minute drive from central locations.

Lunch: Check out Le Jardin du Lotus for lunch, which is typically a 10-15 minute drive from most central hammams. The atmosphere is super chic, and the menu is a delightful mix of Moroccan and international flavors. Or opt for this for dinner as they have a DJ, so it can get vibey.

Afternoon: Spend your afternoon in the Agafay Desert with a Camel Ride. The desert is about a 45-minute drive from the city center, but totally worth it for the serene experience.

Evening: I didn’t get to visit, but I’ve heard the beach clubs like Plage Rouge are amazing for a chilled evening by the pool. They’re usually around a 30-40 minute drive from the city center.

@kelseyinlondon 🇲🇦 Luxury Desert Camp in Morocco ⬇️ ⛺️⁣ ⁣ Planning a visit Morocco soon? If you’re heading to Marrakech then I highly recommend adding an extra day to your trip and staying overnight in the Agafay Desert at @beagafay - one of the few desert camps in Morocco that has a pool and a jacuzzi.⁣ ⁣ Located in the Agafay Desert, BE Agafay is a 1 hour drive from Marrakech, so you could easily visit for the day with a pool poss which includes lunch. However, you will experience the true magic of the desert when you stay in one of their luxury tents as you really can’t beat sleeping under the stars and waking up to epic views of the Atlas Mountains.⁣ ⁣ When it comes to glamping - the yurt tents at BE Agafay are on another level. They are incredibly spacious, with a huge bedroom, separate kitchenette/wardrobe area and one of the nicest bathrooms I’ve ever experienced glamping! There was even a basket with a hair dryer & hair straightener for the girlies!⁣ ⁣ One of the best experiences at BE Agafay is that you instantly feel like family when you arrive. In the evenings there are special fire shows and live music to enjoy around the camp fire with Moroccan tea.⁣ ⁣ Prices for 1night start from 320€ per tent (includes breakfast & dinner).⁣ Pool passes (including lunch) are 50€ per person.⁣ Please note: you will not be able to drive or catch a taxi here, it’s best to arrange a 4x4 transfer via BE Agafay who can pick you up from your accomodation in Marrakech. ⁣ ⁣ #marrakech #marrakechmedina #marrakech🇲🇦 #visitmarrakech #riadmarrakech #instamarrakech #marrakesh #morocco #moroccotravel #moroccotrip #visitmorocco #morocco🇲🇦 #travelmorocco #exploremorocco #instamorocco #uktravelblogger #travelblogger #travelguide #traveltips #travelblog #marrakechrestaurant #marrakechfood ♬ Soso - Kabusa Oriental Choir

Day 4: Brunch and Riad Experience

Morning: Start your last day with brunch at Bacha Coffee, which is centrally located and likely just a 10-minute drive from your accommodation. The setting is so elegant, and the coffee is top-notch.

Afternoon: Spend some time exploring a traditional Moroccan riad. Depending on where you’re staying, most riads in the Medina are within a 10-minute walk or a short drive. They’re like a peaceful retreat in the city, and you’ll get a real sense of Moroccan architecture and hospitality here. Or you can opt to stay at one of these. We visited one as a friend knew the owner, and they were super friendly and offered us tea.

Next on the 4-Day Itinerary and Ultimate Marrakech Travel Guide 2024: Best Things to Do, Where to Stay, What to Wear, and Top Attractions in Morocco.

Getting to Marrakech You’ll likely arrive at Marrakech Menara Airport, which is just about 15-20 minutes away from the city center by car.

Weather in Marrakech: Best Time to Visit
Marrakech is known for its warm climate. If you’re planning your trip, the best time to visit is in the spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November). We visited in March, and it was a little breezy some days and in the evening. During these times, you can expect average temperatures to range from 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F)—perfect for sightseeing without melting in the heat. Summer can be scorching with temperatures hitting up to 40°C (104°F), while winters are mild, with daytime temps around 18°C to 20°C (64°F to 68°F), but it can get chilly at night, so pack accordingly!

4-Day Itinerary and Ultimate Marrakech Travel Guide 2024: Top Attractions in Morocco

Not Included in the Itinerary: Extra Activities

Day Trips:

  • Essaouira: This coastal city is known for its laid-back vibe and beautiful beaches. It’s about a 2.5-hour drive from Marrakech and perfect for a day trip.
  • Ouzoud Waterfalls: Located about 2.5 hours from Marrakech, these waterfalls are a natural wonder and great for a day of adventure. Ideal for nature lovers looking for a day trip.
  • Atlas Mountains: If you’re into hiking and stunning views, a trip to the Atlas Mountains could be fun. It’s about a 1.5-hour drive from the city center and a chance to experience Berber culture and see another side of Morocco.
@kybetravel This is Essaouira, Marrakech’s lesser known neighbour and my top Moroccan city! A quaint port city just a 3 hour drive from bustling Marrakech and a more chilled vibe imo #essaouira #morocco ♬ original sound - Kybetravel

Marrakech Nightlife:

  • Clubs: We attempted going to these during Ramadan, so it was empty haha. Theatro and 555 Famous Club are the best spots. Just don’t forget to bring your ID—they’ll ask for it at the door. Both clubs are about a 15-20 minute drive from the Medina.
  • Bars: For a more laid-back evening, Le Salama is a rooftop bar with amazing views of Marrakech at night. It’s located in the Medina, so it’s likely just a short walk or a quick 5-minute drive away.

4-Day Itinerary and Ultimate Marrakech Travel Guide 2024: Where to Stay

When planning our trip to Marrakech, we were on the hunt for a place that offered both luxury and a central location. We ended up booking the Savoy Grand Hotel through a great deal on LastMinute.com.

First time I have ever used them and with breakfast, accommodation and flights this was around £400/500. Located right in the heart of the city, the hotel made it super easy for us to explore all the must-see spots and the hotel had a mall next to it. The Savoy Grand Hotel is known for blending traditional Moroccan charm with modern comforts, and it definitely lived up to its reputation. I have never had such a range of breakfast options each morning. There are also a selection of pools and the hotel is huge. So if you are after a relaxing 4-day itinerary, I’d recommend staying here.

4-Day Itinerary and Ultimate Marrakech Travel Guide 2024: What to wear

What to Wear in Marrakech as a Female

When planning your Marrakech Morocco outfit, it’s important to consider the local culture. While Marrakech is relatively liberal, modesty is appreciated, especially in traditional areas like the Marrakech Morocco Medina.

  • Summer: I’d opt for maxi dresses, loose trousers, and tops that cover your shoulders to stay comfortable especially if you are visiting the Marrakech markets. During my visit, I wore a shorter dress one day, and we did get some unwanted attention and heckling from some men in the Medina market. It’s best to dress more modestly to avoid this. If you are going on a quad bike, do not wear white and prepare to get a little dirty from all the sand.
  • Modest Fashion: Long skirts or dresses and scarves are recommended, particularly when visiting religious sites. Marrakech Morocco fashion is all about long skirts and scarves.
  • Footwear: I’d opt for comfortable shoes for instance with this 4 day itinerary given we made sure to pick locations nearby, so you are able to make the most out of walking.
  • Evening Wear: For evenings out, dress smartly but modestly. Flowy dresses or jumpsuits -I wish I wore a longer dress for nights out. Evening clubbing people wear heels and dresses but I’d have felt more comfortable in longer dresses.

When planning your outfits for Marrakech, we found that dressing more modestly is preferable when out and about, especially in places like the Medina. While at your hotel or by the pool, wearing your swimsuit is fine. This approach helps avoid unwanted attention.

Conclusion

So there you have it, loves—my ultimate Marrakech travel guide! Whether you’re planning your visit for 2024 or just need a little Morocco travel inspiration, this guide has everything you need.
