Read below for the 4 places to stay in Santorini Greece – best boutique hotels luxury and on a budget.
If you were wondering where to stay in Santorini and want to see the variety of the options and views of the different areas then read below. We cover luxury, budget, cave and hotels with a view.
Where to stay
Depending on the transport option you choose to use this will highly dictate where you will want to stay. Despite the island being small, taxis are very expensive. There is public transport e.g. buses but the timetable isn’t reliable and the buses do not run late. I’d suggest staying central in Oia or Fira if you are using public transport. If you have your own transport or do not mind getting taxis then staying further out could be a better option.
1. Daedalus Hotel - FIRA
THE BEST HOTEL TO STAY AT FOR LOCATION
This boutique hotel was very central less than 5 minute walk away from the main Fira main square, bus station and the taxi rank is only a few steps from the Caldera views. If like us, on your itinerary is to watch the sunrise in the morning, you couldn’t get much closer to the spot then from this hotel. Just be careful crossing the busy road.
Daedalus Hotel has an outdoor fresh-water pool, instagrammable sun beds. a pool bar, sauna and a hydromassages are available for guests. The pool was beautiful and had a jacuzzi. There is also a bar and music at this hotel and the bar staff offer happy hour and give the guests free shots/drinks.
The room we had wasn’t huge, it was comfortable but the facilities are definitely better than the room but all rooms feature balconies.

With breakfast included this came to 154 a night.
There was a lot of selection for breakfast, offering greek and American style breakfast. I wouldn’t say it’s one of the best breakfasts I have had. I would prefer to explore local spots for breakfast.
The hotel is located: 12 km from Athinios port, 15 km from Oia, 9km from the Airport, 9 km from the Black Beach of Kamari.
Location: 10/10
Pool 8/10
Breakfast: 5/10
Ambience: 7/10
Hotel: 4*
2. Aegean Plaza Hotel- PERISSA BEACH
This hotel is further down the island from Oia and Fira, closer to Perissa beach. This 4.4* hotel is located 30 meters from the black sandy beach. With many restaurants and bars to choose from. This traditional-style Cycladic buildings meets contemporary chic with the modern style furniture. . This hotel was £150 a night.
If you decide to take public transport this is just under a 10 minute walk to the hotel. The bus stops back at Fira bus station, making it easy to travel around the island. The hotel has a central pool, fitness centre, a tennis court and two additional pools, including one for children. This hotel has a party type feel. I preferred the upmarket feel of staying in either Oia or Fira but this hotel was stunning.

The breakfast buffet was one of our favourites. The selection is endless and the views of the pool are incredible. This hotel happened to be however particularly busy when we were here making it difficult to navigate inside at the buffet area.
Location: 8/10
Pool 7/10
Breakfast: 6/10
Ambience: 6/10
Hotel: 4.4*
3. Antoperla Luxury Hotel & Spa
BEST ROMANTIC STAY BOUTIQUE HOTEL STAY IN SANTORINI
This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in at £300 a night. With good reason, this hotels boasts of having a hot tub with each room! The room and facilities reflect the cost of the stay. This luxury hotel is located only 100 meters from Perissa Beach in Santorini.
The one and only hotel spa in Perissa and it also has 18 private pools. Relax and unwind by booking a spa appointment. We particularly enjoyed the food at the restaurant and bar. The hotel offered as complimentary cocktails too! Like mentioned above this is more of a calm romantic hotel- with no children. If you are after more of a quiet stay this is the best hotel for you.

While you may have your own private pool and sunbeds, the hotel pool is beautiful and they offer delicious cocktails, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. The rooms have air con and feel cooler, a perfect contrast from the direct sun you’ll enjoy outside on your private balcony. The breakfast options however were quite limited for a 5* hotel but because of the rooms, service and facilities I’d still stay here again!
Location: 8/10
Pool 10/10
Breakfast: 9/10
Ambience: 8/10
Hotel: 5*
4. The Last Sunbeam- Fira
THE BEST BOUTIQUE TO STAY AT WITH A VIEW ON A BUDGET
The last of the 4 places to stay in Santorini Greece – best boutique hotels luxury and on a budget. This is an Adult only hotel in the heart of Fira. It is located on the quieter side of the island. This was the cheapest hotel we stayed in at £132 a night.
This Santorini hotel is also very central. It is 600 metres from Fira Theotokopoulou Main Square. The hotel is sited very close to the Aegean Sea. Fira Terminal bus station, is around 5 minutes’ away downhill.

The room may be reflective of the price however the pictures of the views of Aegan sea do not do it justice. The hotel should really be more expensive! The hotel offers a a continental breakfast included, given they do not have a restaurant onsite, they bring this to you during your selected time slot. You can also use the outside seating area to have your breakfast looking out at these views.
Location: 8/10
Pool 7/10
Breakfast: 6/10
Ambience: 8/10
Hotel: 3*
The photos don’t do it justice – the views from this hotel are absolutely stunning. It is up there with one of the best views from a hotel I have stayed at!
Any advice
Transport- I wouldn’t recommend getting taxis these can be really expensive and the island is so small. You can hire a bus which is a few euros. For example from Fira to Oia is only a 26 mins drive. However I do remember waiting for 15 minutes for a late bus so it might be worth hiring a moped. If you are staying at different sides of the island a bus is your best bet with luggage. If you’d rather hire a quad bike or moped make sure to book in advance as they were fully booked on the Island when we wanted to use one.
Photos- If you are set on getting pictures at well-known Instagram spots I’d recommend setting off early to avoid people in the background of your shots and to avoid queuing! These small towns can get very busy.
