If you’ve been scrolling through dreamy jungle-meets-beach content and wondering where that untouched, serene place is—it’s probably Palomino.
Tucked away on Colombia’s Caribbean coast, this boho beach town is still flying under the radar. I have never been to such a hippie town, this way beats Bali ten years ago.
The real draw? Palomino Colombia beaches—raw, wide, and wild. No loud music or over-tourism here—just waves, palm trees, and pure peace.
Here’s the Behind the Gram lowdown on what to do, where to eat, and things to do in one of Colombia’s best-kept secrets.
First Impressions: What to Expect in Palomino

Palomino isn’t about big resorts or chaotic nightlife. It’s more:
- Barefoot walks under palm trees
- Hostels with hammocks and jungle views
- Hippiest town I have ever been to
- A lot of hostels turn electricity off at night as it is expensive to keep on, so no aircon/fans

Whether you’re in search of the best Palomino Colombia beaches or the perfect sarong shot, this place delivers.
Top Things to Do in Palomino, Colombia
1. Swim Where the River Meets the Sea

At the far eastern end of Playa Palomino, a freshwater stream flows into the sea. It’s calm, warm, and tucked away—perfect for a dip without the waves.

It’s a bit of a walk, but you can head straight down from all the food and drink places it’ll be 20 minutes but worth it, and beautiful beaches and houses enroute as you can see.
Walk east along the beach past The Dreamer Hostel.
Bring long dresses and swimsuits for your Palomino Colombia outfit (sarong + sunnies) it’s very hippie here so really not a fashion show but you know me.
2. Tube Down the Río Palomino

This is the thing to do. Hop on a motorbike into the jungle, float down the Río Palomino, and end your ride right near the beach. Two hours of jungle peace, no phone signal, just nature.

We didn’t have long enough here and wanted to spend time at the beach.
- Book through your hostel or there are places on the street.
- Go around 3–4 PM for that golden glow
- Bring a dry bag—you’ll want pics
3. Watch the Sunrise and Explore Other Beaches

Palomino Colombia beaches are wide, natural, and usually empty at sunrise. Visit a variety of beaches on your walk to the river meeting the sea. They were so pretty and picturesque, more so than the lake.

Access via The Dreamer or Casa del Pavo Real
4. Jungle Massage & Spa Time

Massages arent expensive here so try this if you are here a while. Casa del Pavo Real is an eco-luxe hotel with a spa open to non-guests too.
5. Party at Kanta Sana Hostel

Kanta Sana Hostel might seem like just another chill stay, but at night, it comes alive with music, drinks, and DJ nights.

If you’re looking for a low-key party in Palomino, this is the move. We didn’t really party here but noticed this is what was on in the week.

Final Thoughts
Palomino Colombia beaches are what you dream about: raw, wide, golden stretches of coast that feel almost untouched. This was the quietest most chill place i have ever been.

Great to go if you really want to unwind and are after a backpacker vibe.
This isn’t a resort town. It’s for barefoot adventurers, brunch lovers, jungle floaters, and anyone needing a break from real life.
Go for the sunsets. Stay for the stillness.
