If you do not have long and are planning to island hop to other Croatian Islands like Hvar. Then read this blog post on the Top 10 things to do in Split, Croatia: a 3 day itinerary en-route to Hvar.
Nestled on the Dalmatian Coast, this enchanting coastal city is a vibrant blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. I’ll talk you through the top things to do that are perfect for a short girls trip.
Lunch in Split City Centre
- Bokeria Kitchen & Bar– One of the best restaurants in Split Croatia. This stylish restaurant offers ocal cuisine, Mediterranean, European cuisine. I ordered the truffle and pancetta pasta at 130 Kuna. This is the nicest best dish I have EVER had. This is a short two minute walk from the Game of Thrones museum.
Explore the town of split
2. Split Croatia Old Town Square and Diocletian Palace- Forming about half the old town of Split, Croatia. An ancient palace built for the Roman emperor Diocletian at the end of the third century AD. You can sit in the perystile square square here and listen/watch the entertainment and be served by a nearby restaurant. Fig restaraunt is also a few minute walk from here which is an ‘instagrammable restaurant’ I was recommended. It is free to explore the palace grounds but it’ll cost 4-8 euros to go inside the palace.
Head on a BOAT TOUR IN SPLIT TO AN ISLAND
3. Half-Day Blue Lagoon & Trogir Tour- If you aren’t visiting Hvar for a few days. I would suggest doing a boat tour to see the picturesque blue waters. There are several different options from Getyourguide which gives you the option to do aa half a day or full day tour. I would recommend not doing a boat tour if you do head to the island of Hvar.
DRESS UP FOR DINNER AT A TOP RATED RESTAURANT IN SPLIT
4. Zoi– A beautiful restaurant on the Riva (centre). This is a perfect spot to take sunset pictures at with the ocean in the background. This restaurant is close to the harbour and only a short walk to Roof 68 (A minute!). I ordered the Steak Mac & Cheese which was 110 Kuna (£13) suppose to just be an appetiser but was big enough for a main.
Drinks at a bar looking out at the Oceanview
5. Roof 68– Across the road from Zoi is a bar ROOF 68 dining & clubbing the cheapest cocktails here are 96 kuna (£11). Here you can get flaming shots- quite the experience. This has a relaxed but lively atmosphere and is a good place to go before exploring Split Croatia nightlife. I’d recommend going central to the clubs here.
Do a day trip to Krka National Park
6. Krka National Park- Next on this Top 10 things to do in Split, Croatia: a 3 day itinerary en-route to Hvar. Again if you are limited on time, I’d suggest using the next day for a beach club. This is however an hour from Split. Most who visit spend the day as you can swim in the waterfalls, hike or walk through the park. It is is one of the many national parks in Croatia that is particularly popular and crowded in the summer.
Book a late dinner at another top restaurant in split old town Croatia
7. Portofino restaurant– This is a hidden gem in Diocletian’s palace. While it is an upscale Mediterranean eatery the prices aren’t too bad considering you can eat gold with your risotto. Dine on the terrace in summer like we did! The dessert also had edible gold and was my favourite dessert on this trip.
A cute breakfast cafe to indulge in a hearty brunch
8. Fig, Split– Similarly near Diocletian’s Palace in the heart of Split. This brunch spot is perfect spot after a heavy night exploring the nightlife Split has to offer. This cafe provides a relaxed setting and tasty casual comfort food to cure your hangover. What’s good on this menu mentioned is cheesecakes, belgian waffles and ice cream. You can also find this restaurant central in Hvar.
RELAX AT THE BEACH CLUB BEFORE YOUR FERRY TO HVAR
9. Gooshter and Mistral Beach Club– Unwind at a beach club. Mistral is arguably a little more expensive for food than Gooshter however, Mistral is located just a 6 minute drive from the breathtaking beach- Bačvice Beach. So soak up some sun before you leave.
Dinner with a view if you have an extra night stay
10. Teraca Vidilica– Set adjacent to the First Viewpoint, this top Split restaurant has one-of-a-kind view of the Old Town and the seascape. This is a 6 minute drive or 15 minute walk (quite a steep hill) but we climbed it and it was okay! This has beautiful views of Split so worth coming here before sunset. Only 95 Kuna (£11) for my truffle pasta this was delicious.
