A trip to the Amalfi coast- Positano
A guide to Ubud, Bali. If you want more information on where to stay, what it was like, the instagrammable spots and advice on a trip to Ubud, Bali scroll down! 🙂
UBUD
Instead of staying in Ubud, one of our friends at a different homestay to us spoke to the owner who offered to drive us all to Ubud and stop off and wait for us at different tourist locations and then drive us back. This cost us around $20 each ( for four of us). Would definitely recommend doing something like this if you are not going to be in Bali long.
What to do
(1) Tegenungan Waterfall- Steep hill to get down, but this place was lovely, we stopped and had lunch here (Was cheap around 30k IDR for a burger and fries), we also bought some clothes at the market stalls.
(2) Satria Coffee Plantation- We tried 16 different coffees and teas for free, the only cost was to try the Luwak coffee and if you wanted to buy anything at the end. Really lovely staff and also breathtaking views where you sit and try your sampled coffee.
(3) Tegallalang Rice Terrace- Was very beautiful, you are able to walk across the rice terrace, not necessarily an issue but something to be noted is locals will only let you have access to walk to all areas of the rice terrace if you give them some money (some even had wooden barriers to stop you going past).
(4) Bali Swing- Unfortunately I wasn’t too clued up on this old swing situation when we went to Ubud. Would you believe! My friend however mentioned the following: There is the activity package which is $35. Or the swing entrance package $10 – these both include lunch and drinks BUT the $10 doesn’t include a pic on the swing.
(5) Ubud Monkey Forest- This cost $6 entry. For me, I enjoyed this the least out of our day, not a reflection on the place but on my apparent fear of monkeys. I had a water bottle as I went in and a monkey viciously grabbed this off me. You can pay for bananas to feed the monkeys, but this scared me also.
(6) Ubud Art Market- Lots of interesting things here, silk scarves, handmade woven bags, statues and many other hand-crafted goods. For some reason the boys decided to get pocket knives! I invested in some rings.
(7) Pura taman Saraswati Temple: This costs 80k IDR entry so just under $6. Not sure which would be the best temple to visit but this has classical Balinese temple architecture. One thing to remember is it is compulsory for both men and women to have sarongs around the waist- the driver helped us out with this but I think they do have them at the temple for free for you to wear and give back.
What it was like
Any advice
Advice for above activities: Carry with you small cash for the Tegallalung Rice Terrace and a sarong with you for the temple. Also you should hold onto your cameras tightly at the Monkey Forest, the monkeys enjoy grabbing stuff off you and can be quite vicious.
Tours: If you are staying at home-stays I recommend asking if they can offer any services like this.

Wow you packed so much in to 1 day! The type of thing I’d do admittedly but you must have been exhausted. It looks beautiful though.

I actually honeymooned in Ubud! And would you believe that in the whole week we were there, we did not know about the existence of the swing? I could cry thinking about it, haha. I am so going back just to do that!
